BOY evaluation of the plastic trade fair "K 2007": Increase in BOY visitors exceeds fair records
Neustadt/Fernthal, 12 November 2007
"K 2007" enjoyed a 5% increase in visitors when compared to 2004 and set a new fair record. BOY’s results were even better, as the newly launched Procan ALPHA Control attracted many very interested visitors to the BOY booth.
For the twelfth time, BOY participated in the Düsseldorf "K Show", the most important international trade fair for the plastic and rubber industry. BOY’s conclusion was very positive: "The 20% increase in business contacts over the previous 'K' in 2004 more than met our ambitious targets", said Carl Schiffer, managing partner of BOY, adding: "We were able to make deals during the exhibition. Due to the high quality of our discussions with customers and interested parties both from at home and abroad, we expect good business going forward. The positive response to the Procan ALPHA control makes us very optimistic regarding the future."
More precise control – more economic production
Under the slogan "More precise control – more economic production", BOY demonstrated its competence in injection molding machines with a clamping force range below 1,000 kN. The company presented technological innovations and practical applications with a total of twelve exhibits.
Procan ALPHA: New standards for machine control
The touch-screen Procan ALPHA control sets new standards in precision and speed. Specialists from the industry were able to experience for themselves its ease of use. "The visitors were able to operate the control in no time", reported Michael Kleinebrahm, head of application technology at BOY. "This is due to the logical design, the self-evident layout of the screen pages and the analogy with the previous control."
BOY was also very satisfied with the interest in its other automation solutions and innovations, including a robotic device fully integrated under the safety hood of a BOY 12. The application also included a camera system for monitoring the production of micro gearwheels with a component weight of only 0.001 g.
Highly efficient and compact complete solutions
"Seeing it once is better than hearing it a hundred times". In line with this motto, BOY demonstrated the adaptability of its line of machines with practical applications. For example, the fully automated production of a set of four hexagon keys was demonstrated on a BOY 55 VV with a modular automation cell.
The presentations focused on the design benefits of the cantilevered clamping unit. For example, an extremely compact and economically designed clean room application was shown on a BOY 22 A with an integrated packaging unit. Another compact solution was a deposit system, which was placed directly under the cantilevered clamping unit of a BOY 90. A BOY 90 equipped with a dual pump was used to produce thin-walled cable ties with a highly modern hot runner mould and moulded high quality parts with short cycle times.
By configuring the machine smartly, production efficiencies can be increased even further. This was evidenced in the production of pipettes for insulin syringes on BOY 55 A. Equipped with a double pump and servo-electric screw drive, the machine reduced the cycle times considerably through simultaneous movements for opening, ejecting and screw recovery.
