Insert moulding technology / Insertion process

A typical task for an insert molding machine of BOY: plugs and electronic components.
Insert molding machines of BOY with vertically arranged clamping unit are particularly suitable for the overmolding of inserts.

For almost 40 years, BOY has been constructing insert molding machines with vertically arranged clamping units for the overmolding of inserted parts.

Long-standing experience is the basis for the precision and efficiency of these insert molding machines with a clamping force range of 11 to 60 tons. The design advantage of this series is the fixed lower platen, which inhibits a shifting of the inserted part during mold closing.

With the ideally suited basic concept of a two-platen clamping unit, the energy efficient servo drive concept, and the latest-state-of-the-art Procan ALPHA control, the insert molding machines are an excellent means of production.

For special applications which for instance do not allow a central injection in the center of the mold, machines for parting line application are available like the BOY 25 E VH and BOY 35 EVH with horizontal injection units. This machine configuration enables a lateral gating on the molding to avoid gate marks on the surface of the parts.

For parting line applications, we also offer the BOY 22 VH with a horizontal injection unit. With this machine, cavities placed in the middle of the mold can be gated on one side in the split area, so that no gate marks will be visible on the surface of the molded part.

BOY: Proven designs for horizontal and vertical injection molding

BOY also has insert molding capabilities due to the versatile design of their injection molding machines. The BOY designers benefit from the practical experiences of molders. They have always been an integral part of the continuous improvement and optimization of BOY injection molding machines. Due to the easy accessibility to all parts of the Boy machine, short changeover times are normal and due to the innovative Procan ALPHA control, a smooth machine operation is standard.
